I have a hard time doing illustrations like this, because I have so many thoughts in my head and want to say (visually) and I want to capture them all. It hurts to have to create this … that this is reality… that we have to march, protest….RIOT…fighting for just the right to LIVE! To be treated the same “civil rights” equal rights…
Being a black man, and having a black family…having these discussions on race, and black history in America to my 8 year old son 12 year old daughter… explaining to them that just because of their color they may be treated wrongly… or harmed. Along with the important of education… being proud of who you are, self defense…self awareness self confidence… yes EVERYONE needs this but being black it seems that needs to be our superpower.
This may not be the way we wanted change to happen, but this maybe the way it needed to be… the world is watching/listening… we are on the main stage…. what happens next? We must control the narrative now!
